WHY DO WE LOVE FLATBACKS?
Because of their flat backing, they’re extra comfortable to wear around your ear (especially in advanced piercing placements like the conch, tragus, and helix), as they don’t poke behind your ear. They’re comfy enough to sleep in and durable for everyday wear, making them a great option for those who prefer not to switch out their earrings daily!
WHAT IS A FLATBACK STUD?
Flatback studs feature a smooth, disk-shaped backing that sits flush against the skin, delivering exceptional comfort for extended wear—especially in intricate cartilage piercings like the conch, tragus, and helix.
- All-Day & All-Night Wearability: Flat back studs remain irritation-free during sleep, sports, or daily activities, even in high-movement zones like the helix.
- Anatomical Precision: Engineered to align with the curved surfaces of the conch and tragus, the flat back prevents shifting while maintaining airflow—critical for sensitive piercing sites.
Standard Flatback Stud Components
Each standard flatback stud comprises one pre-bent top and one flatback post.
Note: Butterfly back posts cannot be interchanged with flatback bases due to structural differences.
Reversible Flatback Stud Structure
Reversible flatback studs include a pre-bent top and one flatback post.
WHY IS THE TOP PRE-BENT?
The 15°–20° pre-bend generates spring tension, locking the top securely within the base—eliminating pressure behind the ear.
HOW TO INSERT FLATBACK STUDS
- Push the flatback post through the BACK of your piercing
- Once the post is peeking through the front of your piercing, carefully take the top and insert the pre-bent part into the post’s opening
- Firmly push both ends together with your finger, then gently tug both ends to make sure it’s secure
